Rose and Eddie's leaving party - 21st March

Rose and Eddie are off to Australia to seek their fortunes. But we couldn't have them go without a send off. So we all met up and partied into the small hours at the Abbey for old times sake. From what I remember and what people tell me I enjoyed myself...

I vaguely remember my white Primark gloves being used by Ali to complete her outfit...

Vinopolis - 19th February

After postponing our Christmas party we still had a wine tasting evening to take advantage of at Vinopolis before the end of February. Jamie called for a company review and planning meeting on GLTC's Birthday and for it to be offsite. Arranged in the Tower Bridge Hilton at London Bridge, so afterwards we could unwind by having our belated Christmas drinks and Birthday drinks around the corner.

It's the second time I've been to a wine tasting at Vinopolis. I went in this time determined to come away with some useful information. With good intentions I took in lots at the beginning. What someone means by saying a wine's got legs. How to look for those legs. Which type of wines tend to have more legs. Sadly my attention span had legs and wandered.

The look of love...

Catalogue E- Business Magazine

During the Award ceremony that I attended last week, we all had our pictures taken several times by a photographer walking around the tables. A few of us were a bit camera shy shall we say, so I told everyone my trick of putting my glass in front of my face to obscure it. And so everytime the camera came in sight, up went our hands.

It worked brilliantly. A week later the Catalogue E-Business Magazine arrives in the office and who should be on the front cover? One of the 20 winners collecting their award? The host of the show? No there we are each with our hands in front of our faces...

Alan Price - Barn Theatre, Oxted - 9th March

It's not all country walks and being out in the middle of nowhere in Oxted, oh no, we do occasionally get Alan Price playing at the Barn Theare.

We invited Ali and Craig to come with us to see Alan play on the Sunday night, then thought it would be a good idea to make a weekend of it. This in hindsight was probably not a great idea.

We headed out on the Saturday evening for marathon drinking session, visiting the 4 pubs of Old Oxted (Old Ted according to the grafittied signposts.) During the very drunk long walk home, at 2 in the morning, in the rain, I think we knew the next day would be a slow one.

The theatre is literally a barn, lovely and cosy. As we sat up in the rafters, we settled in for a night of stories and songs from the 60's. And boy can Alan tell a story...

He played the songs we knew from The Animal days, "House of the Rising Sun" and "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place," and plenty I'm sure I would have recognised had I been 20+ years older.

We came away with a signed copy of his new album and the remnants of a hangover.

Yet another award ceremony - 5th March 2008

Last year our company was invited to an award ceremony at the Natural History Museum. A big black tie event, with Jennie Bond hosting. I drank champagne on entering the building and you could say I started to enjoy myself immediately.

Even though it was a weekday, several of us could be found drinking in the Copthorne Tara Hotel, Kensington at 2am celebrating our win. At 4am you'd have found me and Michelle very drunk in our hotel room trying to work out what the loud noise was that had woken us. At 4.20 you'd have found us making our way down the 7 flights of stairs, having realised it was a fire alarm, took the time to get dressed and before stumbling out of our room.

This year we steered clear of the champagne. Michelle because she's pregnant, me because I said never again. Champagne is banned.
This year...

It was a lovely evening; GLTC was voted the best childrens company again. And I actually remember some of it.
